My mum cooks cuttlefish in the oven with potatoes quite often and we all love it. Back home we find cuttlefish quite easily in the fish market and supermarkets. And it’s not that expensive so we can afford to eat it quite often. We have several ways of cooking it: on the BBQ, in a stew, in the oven or cooked in its own ink. I really like no matter which way you cook it.
Here in Malta I can find cuttlefish although it’s more expensive then back home. What I’ve been finding harder is that the cuttlefish I find on my local fishmonger are really big so if I buy I have to cut it into pieces. And I really prefer to use it whole. So I guess I have to wait for the next catch 🙂 But when I find it the way i want I buy, for sure. Sometimes in Marsaxlokk I find the really small cuttlefish and those are ideal to fry just with olive oil, garlic and chilli. It’s a real treat! I will show you the recipe next time I buy them.
This recipe can be done with any other molluscs like squid or even octopus. I’ve posted a very similar recipe before (Octopus in the oven) if you want to try 🙂
