These bread balls are a recipe that I found on Lorraine Hussain’s facebook page – she’s a Maltese lady that cooks incredible everyday food. Her recipes are easy and full of Mediterranean flavours. I follow her page on a daily basis from where I take ideas and inspiration. So I have to thank Lorraine for this really easy recipe.
bread balls
Maltese bread is delicious. And it’s a baker’s affair. No matter how many times you may try, at home, you are not able to make bread like they do π These bread balls came up on a day that I forgot to buy fresh bread. So I took advantage and tried the recipe. To the original recipe I’ve added black pepper and rosemary. Nice, very nice π
Our bread in Portugal is very similar to the typical Maltese bread. Back home, my parents have their own bread oven so I grew up with homemade bread. Oh, how good that was… The smell is to dye for π and I remember that my grand mother used to bake a smaller bread so that me and my cousin could have it warm with butter before everyone else… oh, childhood memories, how nice π Nowadays, my parents don’t bake bread anymore. It’s quite a hard task and they are not young anymore. But, when I went home for Christmas last year, they made bread just for us π My boyfriend was visiting for the first time and they wanted to show him all the good things we have there… how sweet π
