And again, I was in the mood for fish… but I wanted something different! Quick look at the ingredients available in the kitchen but I couldn’t think of any recipe for my 2 beautiful sea breams 🙁 Then the boyfriend suggested Chinese food instead of fish!!! Noooo… I want fish 🙂 So why not add both things together? So I started looking around the web for some ideas… and I found this recipe for baked sea bream with ginger, soy and spring onions on the Telegraph website. Sounded good enough to try 🙂
Ginger, soy and spring onions are very common ingredients in the Chinese cuisine being used a lot in stir fries. But I never though of using them with sea bream in the oven. The original recipe used sea bream fillets but I like to cook my fish whole as I think that it keeps the flavour better. Also, it was meant to be served with a side of salad. But we love potatoes… so lets add some potatoes to the recipe and see what happens.
I’m quite happy the way the recipe turned out. I must admit, I wasn’t very sure in the beginning. It sounded good on paper but I had my reservations. I’m used to more traditional flavours with my fish so I was curious to see the result… and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s different and I did like it.
